Course Content
This seminar will cover topics relating to allotments ranging from the history and provision of allotments, to the allotments themselves and objects on them (e.g. water, buildings, livestock, plants and trees), through to issues such as deposits, disputes, notice to quit, insurance and risk assessments and grants. Other relevant issues will also be discussed. There will be ample opportunities for questions during the seminar.

To understand the responsibilities and legal and statutory requirements of managing allotments.

Clerks or councillors involved in the management of allotments, or considering regenerating existing allotments.

As this is an all day course, please ensure you bring your lunch with you  

£50.00 to include coffee/tea, copies of PowerPoint slides, relevant hand outs and attendance certificate (for clerks - CPD certificate worth 2 CPD points. For councillors - this contributes towards the DAPTC Star Awards for Councillor Development 2017/18 certificate for your council, provided the qualifying criteria is met).

Allan Cavill is the National Allotment Society's South West Region Mentor. Although now retired, he was previously a Regional Director of the National Allotment Society for 9 years and has been working his own allotment for most of his adult life. Through his extensive knowledge, he is an ideal person to deliver this seminar.

Terms and conditions
Unless a cancellation is made at least two working days prior to the course date, your council will still be invoiced and the full course fee will still be payable.
