Introduction training for Councillors with less than 9 months experience

Course content: Understanding Local Government (where does the parish council fit
in), who’s who in the parish council, how your council works, the public and
communications and sources of help. There will be ample opportunities for
Who should attend: New councillors who have
been in post for less than nine months. Any councillors with a little more
experience who feel this would be of benefit to them are welcome to attend. Please be aware that this is very much
about providing sufficient information to allow councillors to appreciate the
basics of local government and to understand their new role as a parish
Attending this training will also enable new councillors to book
to attend the more detailed and in-depth Essentials for Councillors course.

Cost (invoiced after the course): £40 to include coffee/tea on
arrival, copies of PowerPoint slides, relevant hand outs and attendance
certificate. This contributes towards the DAPTC Star Awards for Councillor Development
2017/18 certificate for your council, provided the qualifying criteria is met.
