Being elected or co-opted to represent your local community can be a rewarding experience. Initially it can also be quite daunting and difficult to understand, especially as you join meetings and committees with other experienced councillors.
We will try and ease you into your new role with some helpful training interventions aimed at making sense of some of the acronyms, topics and procedures required.
Please watch the short video clip to the right for an explanation of how DAPTC's New Councillor Induction Package works and the costs. It is essentially built around co-opted and elected councillors receiving support in the following areas:
Attend one or two council/committee meetings and enrol on our New Councillor Induction Programme
Book in for a 60 minute webinar on how DAPTC can support your council - What We Do
Book in for a 60 minute webinar on Standards in Public Life
Complete a 45 minute E-learning pre-session module called - Introduction to Local Councils
Conclude your induction and consolidate learnings with a webinar - New Councillor Induction
Please make sure you book your New Councillor Induction through the Clerk to the parish.
