The New Councillor Induction programme will give newly elected or co-opted councillors a good introduction to parish and town life.

Course overview

It is more beneficial if you have attended a council meeting as the first step. If you would like to join the New Councillor Induction training program, all your Clerk has to do is book New Councillor Induction training (90 minutes online via Zoom) from the monthly dates available. You are then welcome to book yourself on convenient dates for:

1. 'What We Do' - monthly overview of how DAPTC supports you, 60 minute online session via Zoom
2.'Standards in Public Life' - 60 minute online training via Zoom

What happens next?

We will remind you to book the above two training sessions if you haven't already done so, two weeks prior to the New Councillor Induction online training when we email you with:

1. a link to register for your chosen date for the New Councillor Induction online training session
2. information on how to access the pre-session e-learning Introduction to Local Councils module - approximately 45 minutes to work through at a time and date convenient to yourself

A reminder will be sent a few days before the New Councillor Induction online training session to give you time (if needed) to complete the e-learning and register for the training over the weekend. Five minutes before the online training on the day, you just need to click on the link you have received back after registering, to join the training.
