Canva is a versatile design tool that can be used for free. It allows you to quickly create posters, newsletters and other physical documents. You can also create images for social media and websites as well as videos.

In this course, Breakthrough Communications provide councillors, officers and employees with an understanding of where our behaviour comes from, what resilience means in the context of council roles and how to build emotional intelligence.

Council-focused scenarios will be explored and how best to respond to each of them.

New Clerk Finance + 2nd course FREE!*

This introductory course to finance is for inexperienced clerks, deputy clerks and RFOs in their first few months in role and will provide an overview of a council's financial year and a basic understanding of the RFO's role.

If you have 9 month's experience or more, this session is unlikely to cover anything you don't already know. Please leave this course for new clerks and book yourself onto more detailed finance courses as bookings made by experienced clerks or anyone that is not eligible, may be removed without notice.

Data Protection & GDPR part 2: Accountability & Lawfulness

In part two of Data Protection & GDPR training for councils, Breakthrough Communications covers how councils demonstrate accountability and lawfulness with UK GDPR legislation.

The course deep dives into how councils demonstrate accountability with UK GDPR. The different lawful bases for the processing of personal data are considered and how to create the policies and documents required for local councils. You'll also explore the requirements of the published Privacy Notice and how to create Legitimate Interest Assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments.

Recruiting passionate and engaged individuals to stand as councillors is becoming increasingly challenging. This course focuses on how to spark interest in your community for serving as a councillor.

Breakthrough Communications teach strategies to raise awareness about the vital role of the council and its councillors, build relationships with key stakeholders, and inspire people to get involved. By the end of the session, you'll have practical tools to promote the work of the council, highlight the rewards of being a councillor and encourage community members to consider stepping forward.
