Infection Control
This e-learning course will help develop an understanding of infection and measures that can be put in place to protect everyone in and outside of a workplace.
People play host to trillions of microscopic organisms, most of which help us maintain good health. When harmful microorganisms, known as pathogens, enter the human body they can cause infections that cause illness or even threaten lives. Steps can be taken to prevent infection and following the simple principles of infection control can help individuals stay healthy and, importantly, protect family, friends and colleagues.
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
- Describe common pathogens and the types of infections they cause
- Explain the ways in which pathogens can spread between people
- Identify and take measures to protect those most at risk from infection
- Apply simple infection control methods to reduce the spread of infection in the workplace and beyond
