The government's Cyber Unit offers free online workshops to help local councils understand how cybersecurity relates to their day-to-day work.
Prior knowledge of cybersecurity is not needed as the workshops are designed to be accessible and valuable for attendees with different levels of understanding. They provide easy-to-implement actions that can be taken back to parish and town councils and include how to:
- Secure important accounts using strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
- Protect council systems from malware.
- Safely back-up your data using cloud storage.
- Spot and deal with phishing scams.
