The National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) are hosting an online Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) Briefing covering the following topics:
- Vehicle borne threats and how they manifest themselves
- The importance of setting requirements early on and conducting due diligence in the project phases
- Key principles of HVM (e.g. understanding vehicle impact energy, traffic calming measures).
- Understanding Vehicle Impact Test Standards and barrier performance.
- Taking care of Health, Safety and Maintenance.
- Designing HVM measures into the public realm – It doesn’t have to be ugly.
- Making informed mitigation decisions and managing residual risk.
The three-hour briefing is most suited to professionals who are directly or indirectly involved with the protection of Venues and Public Spaces, including:
- Local and Highway Authorities (Planners, Designers, Engineers, Risk / Resilience Managers)
- Local Resilience Forum security coordinators & Emergency Planners
- Safety Advisory Group members
- Public realm and urban space designers
- Developers and architects (inc. landscape)
