Saturday 16 May, 11am to 2pm at the town’s iconic Jubilee Clock on the seafront.
So far over 20 stands are booked to showcase the work of voluntary and community organisations who help various communities in Weymouth including Space Youth Project, the RSPB, Weymouth Food bank, Friends of Greenhill Gardens, Weymouth Street Pastors, Friendly Food Club, DocBike Dorset, Love Dogs and many more. Tumbledown Community Growspace will have a stand with information about all the amazing projects and activities they run, there will be a puppet making workshop run by The Puppet Tree and Cycling Without Age will be offering free rides to anyone who would like to experience their trikes. There will be vintage/classic cars, a police car and a fire and rescue appliance on display and crowds will be entertained by three community choirs as well as a few other acts still to be confirmed.
The Annual Town Assembly will form part of the event at 1pm at the Jubilee Clock. Attendees will find out about the town council’s services and projects, hear a short report from the Town Clerk highlighting the work of the town council over the past year and have the opportunity to ask questions.
Mayor of Weymouth, Cllr Caroline Nickinson, said: “Weymouth Town Council’s Community Expo has grown over the years, providing a great opportunity to find out more about what’s going on across Weymouth. So, if you’re heading to the beach or planning to do a bit of shopping on Saturday 16th May, why not pop along to the Jubilee Clock and check out the Community Expo. As well as all the stands, we’ve got choirs and even a puppet making workshop, so there’s lots of activities to keep people entertained.”
Dorset Council’s first electric vehicle event, Go Electric! will also be taking place on the promenade on 16 May from 11am -3pm. Members of the public will be able to view a variety of electric vehicles, ask questions and learn about all things EV.
